Elizabeth, Camilla, Kate and the Throne

    Review by Brenda Repland

Christopher Andersen takes us inside the palace walls for a sobering look at the British royal family.  If you see theirs as a glamorous life filled with opulence and a glittering events, prepare yourself:  there is a dear price to pay for such magnificence.

Queen Elizabeth II, now the longest reigning English monarch, has steered a path with one goal in mind:  protect the monarchy and maintain its value in the eyes of her subjects.  She has had to contend with more scandals within the family than any reasonable parent should have to face AND she’s done it under the glaring lights of perpetual publicity.

Camilla is determined to be the next Queen when Charles finally ascends to the throne.  Just one problem:  the public overwhelmingly prefer to see William as the next king, skipping over Charles!

Kate is the new favorite, emulating much of what her late mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales, accomplished.  But would she have snagged William without her mother’s constant attention to bagging the heir?

This is a “warts and all” view of a very competitive family.
