Review by Brenda Repland
In this latest of the series featuring art restorer cum spy, Gabriel Allon, we are taken into a very harrowing situation that resonates in what has become “the new normal” of terrorism.
ISIS has detonated a massive bomb in the (very Jewish) area of Paris known as the Marais. France is at the end of its rope trying to keep its citizens safe from the death-perveying maniacs. They turn to Gabriel to find the mastermind, known only as “Saladin.”
To accomplish this, he and his team of intelligence operatives must carry out one of the most dangerous operations ever. They must infiltrate ISIS for information AND rescue the infiltrator before she’s executed.
While this is a novel, it still paints a very plausible picture of just what is involved in the “war on terror.” It is a pulse-pounding tale that will keep you turning pages as fast as possible.
Mr. Silva’s books create engrossing stories with the most fascinating cast of characters. Don’t miss this one. It’s terrific!
