Dietary Supplements

Dietary supplement is a product taken by mouth that contains a “dietary ingredient,” which can be vitamin, mineral, herb, amino acid, enzyme or metabolite. The FDA requires it to be labeled as a dietary supplement so it is not confused with food or medicine. Dietary supplements are intended to “supplement” a healthy diet, not replace the balance of eating a variety of foods.
