MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY Vs THE DEVIL

Review by Brenda Repland

In a modern day twist on the Faustian bargain, Matthew (Wayne Wilcox)  meets Mephistopheles (Lesli Martherita)  who represents Satan.  She promises the devil deliver his greatest wish – to win an Academy Award Oscar.  All he has to do is . . . sign the contract.

What ensues is a struggle between the temptations of Satan and Matthew’s agent and friends trying to save his soul.

The lyrics are simple and the constant gratuitous profanities diminish rather than stress the points.  (Here, it’s a matter of more being less.)  The dialogue is geared toward millennials who seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

Ms. Margherita was a delightful addition to the cast and charmingly depicted all of Satan’s enticements.
